Special Prosecutor Demands Gov. Perry Appears at Court Hearings

These demonrats are pathetic….we have to remove them all from office, but the only way is if the sheeple wake up, and join us. The only thing that will wake them up is if their entitlements are taken away. The special prosecutor in charge of the abuse of power case against Texas Gov. Rick Perry is fighting to have the potential presidential candidate attend all the hearings leading up to his trial.

Mike McCrum, a San Antonio lawyer appointed as the special prosecutor in the case, said that the governor should be treated just like any other Texan.

“The state does object to Mr. Perry’s request to be permitted to not appear in court at all ‘future non-evidentiary hearings’ in this case,” wrote McCrum to the court. “From carpenters to lawyers to judges accused of anything from tickets to federal felonies, all are expected to appear in court.”

McCrum was responding to an appeal from Perry’s lawyers to Judge Bert Richardson that the governor be excused from an Oct. 13 court hearing and all other hearings before his trial.

“There is absolutely no question that Governor Perry will appear whenever the Court requires his presence, for trial or otherwise,” Perry’s lawyers wrote in their motion on Monday.

“At the same time, his duties and responsibilities to the citizens of Texas and his pre-existing commitments relating thereto are appropriate factors for the court’s consideration.”

In August Perry was indicted on charges that he abused his official position as governor and attempted to coerce a public official.

The charges stem from Perry’s threat to veto $7.5 million in state funding to the district attorney’s integrity unit in an alleged attempt to force DA Rosemary Lehmberg to quit after her drunk driving arrest. When she refused to resign, Perry pulled the funds.

Demonrats sure have lived up to their name.
